Description

Darkest Red is a blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão & Touriga Nacional grapes indigenous to Portugal.  These are the principal grape varieties used in Portugal’s famous Douro Valley wine region to make both port and wine.  The exciting characteristic of Darkest Red is that as a blend, each grape variety’s flavour profile adds to the character and individuality of the wine. Tinto Cão, for example, is a low yielding grape variety that adds spice to the blend.  In the hands of a skilled winemaker, much like a great chef’s careful use of ingredients, the resulting wine is a distinctive, multilayered, and satisfying tasting experience.

A dark, intense and robust blend of indigenous Portuguese grape varietals used in the famous Douro region. The wine has spent some time in port barrels which adds a layer of richness with a crescendo of blackberry, ripe black cherries and plums layered over subtle spice and a bold, rich finish.
